Dedicated Carrier Sales Manager

Description:

Blackrock Logistics is seeking a Dedicated Carrier Sales & Manager to develop, recruit, qualify, and maintain a reliable network of independent motor carriers supporting dedicated grocery transportation throughout Southern California and the broader California market. The primary focus is recruiting power-only carriers and owner-operators to pull company-provided 53-foot refrigerated trailers for grocery vendor pickups, DC transfers, direct-store deliveries, backhauls, and other dedicated refrigerated freight. This role combines carrier sales, recruiting, relationship management, and compliance coordination to build a carrier network that meets the company's standards for safety, service, regulatory compliance, equipment quality, cold-chain execution, and on-time performance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Recruit and develop power-only carriers and owner-operators across Southern California, with a strong focus on the Inland Empire (Fontana, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside, San Bernardino) and greater LA market, building capacity ahead of anticipated volume and seasonal peaks.
• Qualify prospective carriers in coordination with Safety and Compliance, verifying operating authority, insurance, DOT safety history, driver qualifications, ELD/HOS compliance, and equipment standards before dispatch.
• Ensure recruited carriers understand grocery transportation service expectations, including appointment compliance, cold-chain and temperature-control procedures, seal/security requirements, and proof-of-delivery documentation.
• Serve as the primary relationship contact for recruited carriers, communicating lane requirements, compensation, and operating expectations, and building a preferred-carrier network based on performance.
• Reinforce carrier compliance with company equipment requirements for company-owned refrigerated trailers, includingpre/post-trip inspections, reefer operation, damage reporting, and trailer interchange procedures.
• Coordinate with Dispatch, Operations, Safety, Maintenance, and Accounting to integrate recruited carriers into daily operations and develop contingency capacity for unexpected volume or carrier failures.
• Track carrier network performance — carriers recruited, active tractor capacity, on-time performance, safety/compliance record, and retention — and address or remove carriers that fail to meet company standards. 

Requirements:

  Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in carrier sales, carrier procurement, transportation recruiting, trucking operations, brokerage, or fleet capacity development preferred.
• Experience recruiting owner-operators, small fleets, and independent motor carriers strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of FMCSA/DOT carrier qualification and safety requirements, plus carrier insurance and onboarding standards.
• Knowledge of the Southern California and California trucking markets, with an understanding of trucking economics, carrier compensation, and lane pricing.
• Strong negotiation, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, comfortable in a fast-paced, time-sensitive transportation environment.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience with power-only, refrigerated, grocery, food and beverage, or dedicated transportation.
• Existing relationships with local trucking companies and owner-operators, and familiarity with TMS platforms, carrier onboarding systems, load boards, and CRM systems.
• Comfortable spending significant time in the field building carrier relationships and converting prospects into reliable, long-term partners.

Compensation details: 80000-90000 Yearly Salary
