Physician - Cardiac Electrophysiology

Summary The Minneapolis VA Health Care System, a major teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Minnesota, is seeking a Staff Electrophysiologist for its Cardiology section. The Cardiac electrophysiology (EP) section consists of 4 full-time Academic Electrophysiologists – 3 NPs and 4 dedicated device clinic RNs – who jointly care for a high volume of patients. Qualifications United States citizenship (non-citizens only if no qualified citizen can be recruited, per VA policy). Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine from a VA‑approved school. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia; or full license in any U.S. state/territory. Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty leading to board certification. (Acceptable residencies: ACGME‑or‑AOA accredited programs; one year of post‑medical‑school training followed by two years of independent practice; or non‑U.S. residency training followed by at least three years of independent practice in the U.S.) Board eligible or board‑certified in Cardiac Electrophysiology. Proficient in spoken and written English. Demonstrated significant expertise in all facets of cardiac electrophysiology, including academic excellence, peer‑reviewed publications, presentations, or active research. Responsibilities Perform the full spectrum of EP procedures, including novel device therapies, physiologic pacing, ablation techniques, ethanol infusion, coil embolization, complex ventricular tachycardia therapies, epicardial VT ablation, and structural procedures such as LA appendage closure. Provide comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, and device clinic care for a high volume of patients. Maintain physician and professional competence through continuing medical education (reimbursement possible). Participate in the EP team’s research portfolio, including multicenter trials and investigator‑initiated studies. Adhere to a structured work schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Collaborate with the Cardiology section’s staff and interdisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality patient care. Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary with annual performance bonus and regular salary increases.
