About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: Pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% Description: This position is for a Medical Surgical unit. The unit consists of 42 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6. Staff typically experience a 1:6 ratio at least once a week. Common patient diagnoses include medical, surgical, and orthopedic cases. A Charge Nurse is present on each shift and carries an assignment. No titratable drips are administered except for Heparin. Respiratory Therapy is available 24 hours on the floor. Central telemetry monitoring is available with dedicated staff. Patient care technicians are present with a 1:10-12 ratio of nurses to aides. Shifts are scheduled from 0630-1900 and 1830-0700. Weekend and holiday shifts are required as needed. There is no call or standby requirement for this position. Floating to other units may be necessary, specifically to PCU or Burn units. Navy blue scrubs are the designated uniform. The first week consists of classroom training followed by two 12-hour shifts oriented on the floor. Candidates must disclose any planned time off upfront, with a limit of 7 days for the contract duration. Additional time off cannot be approved after initial submission. The cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment. Experience with the EPIC charting system is a plus.
