Acute Medicine Student Nurse Tech (Unit 6200) PRN

Acute Care Medicine manages patients with a full range of clinical issues, including significant blood dyscrasias, advanced endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, gastrointestinal conditions, infectious diseases, asthma, and many other conditions. Because of our patient acuity, we provide advanced training to bring new nurses to the highest level of functioning. Each unit is led by a clinical manager, lead charge nurse, and supported by an advanced practice nurse, case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist. This multidisciplinary team works with physicians, nurses, and patient care technicians to provide quality patient care. Role Purpose Provides multi‑skilled, direct patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse. This job requires completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent. Responsibilities Assist nurses with patient and family education. Document all patient care activities with correct medical terminology. Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary. Ensure availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs. Implement direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team. Collect clinical data and report abnormal findings to the nurse. Instruct patients in preparations for tests and procedures.
