Pay Range: Commensurate with experience

Seat Summary

Carpenters at ABA work under the guidance and leadership of the Lead Carpenter and Site Manager. Carpenters will work on small and large projects and are expected to bring the skills and knowledge to take a project from frame to finish.

Accountability

• Execution of Carpentry
• Maintenance and organization of the job site
• Jobsite safety

Objectives

• Reports to the job site on time, alert, and able on a daily basis
• Knows what tasks are coming next and ensures that he/she has the necessary tools and stock
• Sets up the job site in the morning with the proper tools and equipment needed for that day
• Keeps job site clean and debris-free
• Cleans equipment as needed and securely stores equipment at the end of the day
• Wears personal protective gear, such as but not limited to safety glasses and ear protection, at all times on the job
• Provides guidance and supervision for apprentice carpenters and laborers
• Practices responsible tool care and maintenance
• Positively represents the company through all interactions with coworkers, vendors, and subcontractors

Ascendancy Plan

• Train under the guidance of lead carpenters to acquire additional skills in all areas of construction
• Accumulate all of the personal tools needed to perform all aspects of carpentry
• Continued education in the form of classes and certifications related to construction
• Take responsibility for managing the day-to-day logistics of construction, including materials acquisition and tooling, time management, and planning for overall efficiency

Additional Position Responsibilities

• Additional responsibilities will be assigned based on business needs.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• 4 or more years of relevant experience in carpentry
• RRP Training is a plus
• Competent to perform all facets of construction from frame to finish carpentry
• Able to do full-scale layout when necessary to resolve problematic tile/trim/cabinet situations
• Knowledge of common construction practices and methods and recognize when to ask for guidance
• Read and understand blueprints or set of plans
• Build walls, steel and wood construction, with proper fastening tools and fasteners
• Set trusses and joists properly, with bracing per plan
• Frame door and window openings per plan
• Install blocking and fire blocking per code requirements
• Install cabinets per plan
• Able to find solutions to problems and think creatively and with latitude

Working Environment & Physical Requirements

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
