Regional Vice President of Operations

Regional Vice President | Residential Home Services | Southeast US | Base Salary: $180,000 - $230,000 | Bonus | Equity | Hybrid Remote You'd be stepping into a PE-backed HVAC, plumbing, and electrical platform mid-build: two dozen branches strong, acquisitions paused for the year on purpose, while leadership tightens the structure it will scale on when growth resumes in 2027. That means you're not managing a finished machine. You're building the region that runs it. The Role You'll own a portfolio of 3-8 branch GMs across residential HVAC, plumbing, and electrical operations, with regional P&L responsibility in the $100M-$130M range. Ideal home base is Virginia, North Carolina , or South Carolina , with reach into Georgia, Florida , or Tennessee depending on the branches in your territory. You report to the CEO, working directly alongside the Senior Vice President of Operations who oversees the regional leadership layer. What you're actually building here: GMs who currently run a location will learn to run a P&L under you: labor and headcount cost, budgeting, and the marketing and lead-gen economics behind every job. Most haven't had to think this way yet. You're the one who teaches it Retention is what this platform measures you against above all else, and it's yours to own The maintenance agreement gap closes through the coaching you do in the field, not a campaign someone runs from corporate The GMs in your region are long-tenured and homegrown. Earning their trust matters more than issuing direction What you get out of a build year like this: PE-environment delivery, multi-brand regional P&L, and a GM-development track record you can point to by name. That's the specific combination that opens more senior conversations, and it's not common to build in one seat. What the Role Requires HVAC-specific operating experience. This is a hard filter, not a preference. Not a fit for candidates with general home services backgrounds who lack this. You've operated a P&L above $100 million , owned it, and was held to it. You can describe specifically what you changed and what moved as a result Multi-site experience managing a portfolio of GMs, not a single location A track record of developing GMs you can point to by name: people who grew under you and improved their numbers Financial acumen you can teach, not just perform: labor and headcount cost management, budgeting, P&L ownership, and how marketing and lead-gen actually drive revenue at branch level Consistent field presence. The RVP who manages from their desk will under-perform The ability to influence long-tenured, homegrown branch teams without heavy-handedness PE-backed experience preferred What This Role Is Not For A regional title without regional accountability. If the P&L doesn't have real consequences attached, you'll feel it within 90 days Operators who lead by force rather than influence. A "bull in a china shop" approach will fail fast here Candidates who need a settled, fully-resourced environment. Some branches are still being brought up to standard, and that's exactly the work you're being hired to do Operators who have moved away from the field and are primarily managing through reports and calls Candidates without direct HVAC operating experience.
