Ophthalmic Scribe

Ophthalmology Consultants is seeking an Ophthalmic Scribe for a full-time, long-term position in Des Peres, MO. This role is 100% on-site with travel to other locations in the St. Louis metro area as needed. Our offices are open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, with occasional need to work earlier or later as required.

The primary goal of a Scribe is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the physician they are working for, allowing the doctor to focus on patient care.

Essential duties and responsibilities include accurately documenting medical visits and procedures, operating the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system, understanding examination and procedure codes, ensuring accurate procedure coding and charges, anticipating physician needs, opening and closing exam rooms, helping with testing, maintaining clinic flow, and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include working knowledge of medical terminology, efficient use of EMR, good typing and communication skills, organizational skills, compliance with HIPAA confidentiality standards, excellent patient care, positive rapport with employees, cooperation with supervisory staff and physicians, and flexibility in job assignment.

Education and experience requirements include a high school diploma or GED, one year of related experience or training, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, keyboarding skills, and technology.

Physical requirements involve frequent walking, sitting, and standing, with regular bending, stooping, and reaching, lifting up to 25 lbs, and full use of hands for writing, typing, and technology use. Visual and auditory acuity is required 100% of the time.
