Maintenance TechnicianThis role focuses on building, testing, and maintaining systems to ensure they operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. You will work with electrical and mechanical components, including transmitters, photo eyes, sensors, and automation equipment, and support both preventive maintenance and emergency repairs in a modern manufacturing environment. Over time, you may have the opportunity to travel to customer sites to support installations, service, and troubleshooting.ResponsibilitiesConstruct, assemble, and help test systems to ensure they are built and functioning correctly.Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems used in production operations.Troubleshoot motors, drives, conveyors, pumps, HVAC systems, and other automated production equipment.Work with transmitters, photo eyes, sensors, and automation components to ensure proper operation and integration.Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation to support installation and repair activities.Support machine installations, upgrades, modifications, and equipment relocations on the production floor.Respond promptly to production downtime and emergency repair situations to restore equipment to service.Perform PLC troubleshooting and electrical troubleshooting, including work on 3-phase power systems.Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance, repair, and service records for all equipment.Follow OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and company safety standards at all times.Assist with continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, performance, and safety.Collaborate with other technicians and production staff to identify root causes of equipment issues and implement effective solutions.Remain open to future travel to customer sites to support equipment installation, service, and troubleshooting as needed.Essential SkillsAt least 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance or mechanical work.Hands-on experience performing preventive maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment.Strong electrical maintenance and troubleshooting skills, including work on 3-phase electrical systems.Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.Experience with motors, drives, conveyors, pumps, and automated production equipment.Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.Demonstrated PLC troubleshooting capabilities.Experience with transmitters, photo eyes, sensors, and automation components.Ability to follow OSHA, lockout/tagout, and company safety procedures consistently.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively to emergency repair situations.Capability to maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.Additional Skills & QualificationsElectrical and automation experience that supports installation, troubleshooting, and repair activities.Service-oriented mindset with experience supporting equipment in production settings.Willingness to travel to customer sites in the future for installation and service work.Comfort working collaboratively with a small to mid-sized production team.Interest in contributing to continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.Why Work Here?You will join a stable organization that offers a full benefits package and a profit-sharing program, allowing you to share in the company's success. You will work alongside approximately 40–45 people on the production floor, collaborating closely with other technicians and operations staff. Work involves regular use of tools and test equipment for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as reading blueprints and schematics. Safety procedures, including OSHA guidelines and lockout/tagout protocols, are an integral part of daily operations.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
