Registered Nurse (RN) PACU

The RN in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) monitors and cares for patients who are recovering from anesthesia after surgery. This role involves close observation, managing pain and potential complications, and ensuring a safe transition to the next phase of care.

Assess patient status post-anesthesia, monitoring vital signs and level of consciousness.

Administer medications for pain management or nausea as needed.

Maintain detailed documentation of patient recovery progress.

Identify and respond to complications or emergencies in a timely manner.

Communicate with surgical teams and families regarding patient status and care plans.

Hospital PACU or ambulatory surgery centers.

Requires vigilance and quick decision-making to manage post-anesthetic risks.
