The secretary is the initial point of contact between students, parents, and school counselors, and serves as the public relations agent for the school, managing records and providing reception services. Qualifications Receptionist and telephone skills Typing, bookkeeping, filing and computer skills Basic knowledge of office machines Integrity and ability to handle confidential information Performance Responsibilities: General Generate letters, reports, memos and monthly statements Verify totals on report forms and requisitions and proofread as requested Maintain office routines and manage busy, productive environment Receive and route incoming calls Prepare reports and statements required by the District Perform any other secretarial or clerical tasks as directed by the assistant principal/principal Performance Responsibilities: Specific Operate computer software to assist in maintaining student schedules and implement approved schedule adjustments during the school year Generate reports for teachers, administrators and parents Organize, maintain, correct and distribute attendance records Distribute and track locks for teachers and students Assist in preparing and revising school publications (e.g., course books, handbooks) Organize honor roll and ineligible lists for each quarter Provide secretarial support to the school counselor Prepare student lists for various district schools and departments (e.g., bus garage, guidance department, library, volunteer coordinator) Education Minimum education: High School Diploma Working Schedule School Year Only + 10 days Travel Requirements Travel between schools or district buildings may be required for certain positions. Reports To Principal, School Counselors Terms of Employment As determined annually by the District. Evaluation By Assistant Principal and/or Principal, once during probationary period and then annually after probation ends.
