Civil Litigation Paralegal

Hopkins Law, PLLC is seeking an experienced  Civil Litigation Paralegal to join our litigation team. We are a small Austin-area law firm representing banks, mortgage companies, lenders, secured creditors, title companies, and other businesses in complex civil litigation and appeals throughout Texas.

This position is ideal for an experienced Texas litigation paralegal who is comfortable managing a substantial caseload, working independently, and taking an active role in cases from initial filing through appeal.

Our paralegals perform substantive litigation work and are integral members of the legal team. The position offers exposure to both state and federal litigation, significant responsibility, and a collaborative small-firm environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys through all phases of civil litigation, including case development, discovery, dispositive motions, trial preparation, and appeals.
• Draft and prepare pleadings and other litigation documents, including petitions, answers, motions, discovery, notices, proposed orders, and appellate filings.
• Prepare and electronically file documents in Texas state and federal courts using  Texas eFile/ProDoc and PACER/CM/ECF .
• Independently maintain litigation calendars and monitor court, statutory, and procedural deadlines.
• Coordinate hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
• Manage a substantial litigation caseload from initial filing through resolution and appeal.
• Review incoming court filings and correspondence and ensure appropriate deadlines and follow-up are calendared.
• Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and vendors.
• Assist with supervision and training of legal assistant staff.
• Support multiple attorneys while effectively prioritizing competing deadlines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of litigation paralegal experience in Texas required.
• The three-year experience requirement must include substantive  Texas state-court litigation experience; out-of-state litigation experience alone will not satisfy this requirement.
• Experience with Texas state court electronic filing through  Texas eFile/ProDoc .
• Experience with federal court filing through  PACER/CM/ECF .
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage litigation deadlines, calendars, and attorney dockets.
• Strong drafting, writing, proofreading, and document-editing skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and multiple competing deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Outlook.
• Experience in real estate, title, mortgage, or financial-services litigation is helpful but  not required .

Location & Work Schedule

Candidates must reside in the  Austin, Texas metropolitan area .

This is primarily an  in-office position during the initial training period . A hybrid schedule may be available after successful completion of training based on performance and the needs of the firm. This is  not a fully remote position .
