Billing SpecialistLocation: Portsmouth, VAPay Rate: $23.25 per hourAssignment Length: 6 Months to 1 YearSchedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pmJob SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Billing Specialist for a temporary assignment in Portsmouth, VA. The ideal candidate will have experience with medical billing, insurance claims processing, coding, and Microsoft Office applications. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate billing, claim submission, payment reconciliation, and follow-up with insurance carriers.Responsibilities• Process and review insurance billing edits and claim rejections.• Submit electronic claims and rebills through the billing system.• Verify insurance eligibility, authorizations, and claim acknowledgments.• Bill secondary and tertiary insurance carriers as needed.• Follow up on unpaid claims and payment discrepancies.• Review and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).• Ensure insurance payments are accurate and comply with contractual agreements.• Maintain detailed billing records and documentation.• Communicate professionally with insurance companies and internal departments.• Perform other related duties as assigned.Qualifications• Associate's Degree preferred.• Minimum of 2 to 3 years of medical billing, insurance claims, billing, and coding experience.• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing.• Understanding of medical coding systems.• Experience interpreting EOBs, co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.• Excellent communication and customer service skills.• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.Preferred Skills• Medical billing and coding experience.• Electronic claims processing experience.• Strong Microsoft Office skills.• Experience working with insurance carriers and reimbursement processes.Weekly pay and benefits available!
