Lead Data Engineer

Role Overview The platform team is responsible for executing the vision and achieving the goals of our three core lines of business: Indexing, Digital Distribution, and Data & Analytics. This role focuses on driving technical excellence in data engineering, statistical techniques, and domain‑specific applications within VettaFi’s digital ecosystem. Responsibilities Lead the technical direction of the data engineering function, including input on infrastructure, warehousing, and tooling. Design, build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest large volumes of financial and user data from various sources into the data warehouse. Leverage and optimize the data warehouse to support efficient querying and analytics. Implement automated monitoring, alerting and testing to ensure data accuracy, freshness and consistency. Partner closely with the platform team to productionalize models and integrate data streams into user-facing products. Ideate and advocate for projects that apply novel uses of VettaFi’s data. Review and approve pull requests, enforce coding standards and mentor junior engineers. Job Requirements Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related technical field. 5+ years of experience in data engineering, backend software engineering or a related field. Expert‑level SQL with ability to write complex, highly optimised queries. Strong Python skills for production‑grade data orchestration code. Experience with cloud data warehouses such as AWS Redshift and orchestration tools. Good communication skills, able to translate architectural concepts to non‑technical stakeholders. Self‑starter who takes ownership of platform reliability. People‑leadership experience and a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset. Positive attitude with a commitment to delivering high‑quality, resilient systems. Salary Range $125,000/year – $140,000/year USD (guideline only; actual offer may vary).
