Job Title: Fleet Mechanic Job Description

This role is a first-shift fleet mechanic position in a union environment, focused on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of fleet vehicles and related equipment. You will work as part of a small, dedicated team in a shop area within a warehouse facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot problems with diesel and other vehicle systems.
• Carry out repairs on engines, brakes, suspensions, electrical systems, and other mechanical components as needed.
• Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify wear, damage, or potential failures and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to complete maintenance and repair tasks efficiently and accurately.
• Document work performed, including parts used and services completed, in maintenance records or work orders.
• Collaborate with a team of mechanics and other warehouse personnel to prioritize and complete repair and maintenance requests.
• Follow safety procedures and shop guidelines to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members about vehicle status, repair timelines, and any issues that may affect operations.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience in fleet maintenance, including servicing and repairing multiple types of vehicles.
• Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose mechanical and diesel-related issues accurately.
• Proficiency in performing mechanical repairs on engines, drivetrains, brakes, and related systems.
• Ability to work effectively in a union environment and follow established shop procedures.
• Capability to use standard mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment safely and correctly.
• Attention to detail in inspecting vehicles and documenting maintenance and repairs.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a small team in a busy warehouse setting.
• Previous diesel experience, with familiarity in servicing and repairing diesel-powered vehicles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a fleet mechanic shop or similar maintenance facility.
• Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing mechanical issues.
• Ability to manage multiple maintenance and repair tasks and prioritize work effectively.

Work Environment

The role is based in a non-climate-controlled warehouse, with the fleet mechanic shop located in a fenced-off section of the facility. You work alongside approximately six team members in a busy, industrial setting that focuses on fleet maintenance and repair. The environment is hands-on and tool-driven, with a strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and efficient use of shop space and equipment.

This is a Permanent position based out of St. Louis, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $71011.12 - $71011.12/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
