DIESEL TECHNICIAN

SHIFT: 1ST SHIFT

WAGE: $25/HOUR

Job Summary:

A Diesel Technician is responsible for the maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. This role involves inspecting engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, and other vehicle components to ensure optimal performance and safety. The technician must possess strong mechanical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines and related systems.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and software.
Repair or replace malfunctioning parts, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, and hydraulics.
Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize breakdowns and increase equipment reliability.
Maintain accurate service records and report completed work.
Stay updated on industry standards, tools, and diesel engine technology.
Comply with safety regulations and procedures in all work activities.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and customers about vehicle condition and needed repairs.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in diesel technology preferred.
2+ years of experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance (entry-level roles may require less).
Strong understanding of diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) may be required, depending on the position.
ASE Certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift heavy parts and tools, often over 50 lbs.
Work in various positions (standing, bending, kneeling) and in a variety of environments, including outdoors or in repair bays.
