Job Description

This role is for an experienced Maintenance Technician who will support production operations by performing preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance on production equipment and facility systems. The position is primarily on 2nd shift, with a potential future opening on 1st shift. The technician will focus on electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems to maintain equipment reliability, support product quality, and ensure safe and efficient plant operations.

Responsibilities

• Execute preventive maintenance activities on production equipment and secondary systems according to the established schedule.

• Respond promptly to reactive maintenance needs to minimize equipment downtime and production interruptions.

• Communicate potential safety issues to supervision immediately and support a strong safety culture.

• Assist the maintenance lead in tracking, reporting, and maintaining maintenance supplies, spare parts, and records.

• Identify and recommend opportunities to reduce total maintenance costs through improved methods, parts usage, and process enhancements.

• Assist in training equipment operators on proper use, basic maintenance, and safe operating practices as directed.

• Perform all maintenance activities in a safe, compliant, and professional manner, following company procedures and guidelines.

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems to restore equipment to optimal operating condition.

• Repair equipment and facilities to a high standard of quality, ensuring reliability and long-term performance.

• Recommend and implement continuous improvement ideas, modifications, and repairs that enhance equipment efficiency and reliability.

• Verify that polyurethane foam equipment operates within design specifications and make adjustments or repairs as needed.

• Support root cause analysis efforts to address product quality issues, scrap, and recurring equipment problems.

• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to diagnose and resolve issues.

• Perform tooling repair using welding, cutting, and grinding techniques as required.

• Operate basic shop equipment such as mills, lathes, band saws, MIG welders, and stick welders for maintenance and fabrication tasks.

• Perform basic HVAC operation checks and troubleshooting to maintain a stable and comfortable production environment.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience performing electrical maintenance on industrial production equipment.

• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills in hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, and actuators.

• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills in pneumatic systems, including air lines, valves, and cylinders.

• Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems and components in a manufacturing environment.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings for maintenance and repair work.

• Hands-on experience with tooling repair using welding, cutting, and grinding.

• Basic understanding of AC and DC drives and their operation in industrial equipment.

• Basic understanding of hydraulic pumps and chemical metering pumps.

• Ability to operate shop equipment such as mills, lathes, band saws, MIG welders, and stick welders for maintenance and fabrication tasks.

• Basic HVAC operation and troubleshooting skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work safely, follow procedures, and immediately report safety concerns.

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in automotive manufacturing or working with automotive tier suppliers.

• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining PLC-controlled equipment.

• Familiarity with Mitsubishi PLCs and PLC troubleshooting.

• Experience working with robotics in a production environment.

• Background in welding and fabrication to support equipment modification and repair.

• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and equipment drawings.

• Exposure to polyurethane foam equipment and processes.

• Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on equipment reliability and cost reduction.

Work Environment

This position is based in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility that supplies the automotive industry as a tier supplier. The environment is production-focused, with a strong emphasis on safety, equipment reliability, and product quality. You will work around polyurethane foam equipment, automated machinery, and various electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. Standard industrial tools and shop equipment such as mills, lathes, band saws, and welding equipment are used regularly for maintenance and fabrication tasks. The role is primarily on 2nd shift, with potential opportunities on 1st shift and future expansion to a 3rd shift as the operation grows. The facility maintains organized work areas and clear procedures to support safe, efficient maintenance activities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Canal Winchester, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
