Staff Accountant POST NUMBER: 484583

We are recruiting a Staff Accountant for a nonprofit organization to help support daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance activities.  This role offers broad exposure to fund management, cash activity, month-end close, and financial reporting while working closely with finance leadership.  The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and enjoys contributing to an organization focused on making a meaningful community impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and timely completion.
• Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation for recurring and non-routine accounting activities.
• Assist with the administration and accounting of designated program funds, grants, scholarships, or other restricted resources.
• Monitor fund activity and prepare reports to support internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Record and reconcile cash receipts, deposits, and banking transactions while maintaining accurate accounting records.
• Support corporate card administration, expense review processes, and payment-related reconciliations.
• Prepare account reconciliations and assist with monthly and annual close activities.
• Partner with auditors and external advisors by providing schedules, documentation, and supporting analyses.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen controls, and enhance reporting efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
• 2 years of accounting experience, including exposure to general ledger activities, reconciliations, nonprofit accounting or other related environments
• Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
