Cost Accountanting Consultant - Contract through November Hybrid in Plano, TX Our client is a diversified organization with manufacturing operations that is currently focused on strengthening its cost accounting function while navigating an ERP implementation. This position offers strong visibility across the organization and the opportunity to help build and improve costing processes that directly impact business performance. Position Summary The Senior Cost Accountant will support month-end close activities, inventory accounting, cost reporting, variance analysis, and manufacturing cost controls. This individual will partner closely with accounting, operations, production, inventory, purchasing, and sales teams to ensure accurate product costing and provide insights that drive business decisions. This is not a purely transactional accounting role. The hiring manager wants someone who is curious about manufacturing operations, understands how products move through the production process, and can identify opportunities to improve costing accuracy and operational efficiency. Must-Have Qualifications Manufacturing accounting and cost accounting experience Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and variance analysis Understanding of inventory accounting and cost flows ERP experience within a manufacturing environment Ability to work cross‑functionally with operations and production teams Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Self‑starter who takes initiative and can work independently Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting ERP implementations, upgrades, or process changes Standard costing, BOMs, and product costing experience CapEx, fixed assets, and depreciation experience Process improvement and automation experience Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
