Minimum 6 months Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful difference in a student’s life this summer while using your skills in American Sign Language. A contract opportunity is available for an ASL Paraprofessional to provide dedicated 1:1 support for an elementary student for the Extended School Year (ESY) session. You’ll be working closely with a young learner who just completed kindergarten and recently had a signing paraprofessional added to their plan, making your abilities essential for his growth and success.
This role is perfect for someone fluent in ASL or with a basic knowledge who is genuinely motivated to expand their proficiency. If you’re passionate about helping students communicate and thrive, and you’re comfortable with the commute to a large geographic area, this could be an ideal fit.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (basic knowledge required; willingness to improve strongly valued)
- Experience working in a school setting, especially with paraprofessional support roles
- Ability to work 1:1 with young students and tailor communication to their needs
- Commitment to showing empathy, patience, and adaptability
- Willingness to attach and submit an up-to-date resume
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized assistance and communication support to an elementary student through ASL
- Collaborate with the educational team to implement the student’s IEP effectively
- Encourage engagement, participation, and positive learning experiences
- Maintain clear records of student progress and communication throughout ESY dates
This assignment runs from June 15 to July 24, 2026, weekdays, 9:45am-11:45am, with scheduled district breaks. There is a strong potential for ongoing work into the fall if the match is positive for both sides.
