Credentialing Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Credentialing Coordinator ensures that medical staff members maintain current credentials and licenses to work legally in their field or specialty. These specialists monitor upcoming renewal dates and work with medical staff to advise them of the required steps to maintain their credentials. They also review information on potential new providers to make sure all required licenses and credentials are current.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintain compliance with all regulatory and accrediting institutions.

2. Monitor Medical staff credentials and licenses.

3. Advise medical staff on renewal procedures.

4. Participate in the development of internal credentialing processes.

5. Keep records on licenses, credentials, and insurance contracts.

6. Release information to agencies and members of the public as required by NYS law.

7. Communicate effectively and professionally with physicians and coworkers.

8. Interact with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner.

9. Assists in the implementation and maintenance of the organization's adopted compliance program.

10. Performs according to established compliance policies and procedures.

11. Assume responsibility of mandatory training requirements. Attend staff meetings and educational sessions.

12. Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities.

13. Follow proper infection control and safety practices in the performance of all duties.

14. Perform administrative duties pertinent to position.

15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Required

1. High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.

2. Bachelor's degree preferred.

3. Knowledge of medical credentialing and privileging procedures and standards.

4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

5. Proficient in Microsoft office, word, and excel.

6. Proficient touch-typing skills.

7. Ability to focus for extended periods of time.
