OBD Calibration Engineer - Powertrain & Hybrid Systems

What you will be doin g:Support the design, implementation, and calibration of On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) strategies in accordance with evolving system architectures, technology developments, and emissions regulatory requirement s.Assist in evaluating OBD monitoring boundaries and diagnostic concepts to help ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards and project requirement s.Participate in OBD development activities, including requirements analysis, diagnostic algorithm development, calibration, validation, testing, and certification suppor t.Utilize engineering tools and programming languages such as Python to develop analysis scripts, automate routine tasks, and support virtual modeling and calibration activitie s.Analyze and process large datasets using advanced data analysis techniques to identify trends, investigate issues, and support engineering decision-makin g.Develop required BPU level failures for smart sensors and actuators using CAN-based manipulation technique s.Support the planning and execution of engine, aftertreatment, and powertrain testing activities on dynamometers and vehicle platforms for gasoline and diesel application s.Assist with the installation, commissioning, and operation of powertrain test setups, including conventional internal combustion engine and hybrid-electric configuration s.Analyze test results to assess system performance against project objectives and regulatory requirement s.Document test findings and prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and customer review s.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems, software, calibration, testing, and certification engineers to support the successful delivery of OBD development project s. What you'll need to be successf al:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering (Master's preferred; other degrees considered per source contex t).1 to 5 years of experience in OBD calibration development and/or certification testi ng.Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and internal combustion engin es.Basic-level regulatory understanding of CARB, EU-OBD, EPA-OBD, and WWH-O BD.Moderate experience in calibration and implementation of OBD strategies meeting CARB regulati on.Understanding of fault handling and communicati on.Experience in developing OBD design requirements for software developme nt.Ability to leverage advanced toolchain capabilities (such as Python) to develop virtual models/calibrations and process large sets of da ta.Experience in OBD data preparation for certificati on.Extensive experience in OBD testing for certification, data consolidation, and presentation preparati on.Experience in logic diagram development and concept preparati on.Strong knowledge of CI and SI combustion process ms.Experience using commercially available calibration and development tools (e.g., ETAS INCA, ATI Vision, Vector CANape/CANalyzer, Matlab/Simulin k).Professional communication skills (oral and written Englis h).Must be a motivated team player able to perform in a fast-paced development environme nt.Preferr ed:Master's degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineeri ng.Knowledge of hybrid powertrain syste ms.Exposure to US emission regulations and certification test procedur es.Understanding of US OBD regulations, SAE J1939, and J1979 standar ds.Exposure to base engine and aftertreatment system contro ls.Hands-on experience with engine hardware - engine assembly or rebuilding and troubleshooti s).What you'll g et:Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, HSA and FSA401K with a match and immediate vest ingShort-term and Long-term disability, life insurance and other optional benef itsEmployee Assistance Prog ramEmployee Discou ntsOngoing professional development opportunities including Technical Training and Leadership Developm entThe opportunity to work on industry leading proje #J-18808-Ljbffr LER TechForce
