CDL Driver

CDL Driver PositionAt Procon, our CDL Drivers play a key role in keeping projects running safely and on schedule. This position is responsible for transporting equipment, materials, and specialty items to jobsites throughout Virginia, North Carolina, and surrounding states. Drivers work closely with the Specialty Group General Superintendent to coordinate timely deliveries while maintaining a strong focus on safety, equipment care, and DOT compliance.This is primarily a local driving position with early morning start times and home nightly. Schedules can vary depending on deliveries, traffic, jobsite conditions, and occasional backhaul opportunities. Drivers who are dependable, safety-minded, flexible, and take pride in their equipment will be successful in this role.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesSafely operate company trucks and trailers in accordance with DOT regulations and company policiesTransport equipment, materials, and supplies to and from jobsites and vendorsCoordinate deliveries and schedules with supervisors and field personnelPerform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and loadsProperly load, unload, secure, and protect all cargo during transportInspect company-owned equipment prior to delivery to ensure it is job-readyMaintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and other required documentationMonitor and maintain the condition and cleanliness of assigned trucks, trailers, tools, straps, chains, binders, and related equipmentIdentify maintenance or repair needs and communicate them promptlyAssist with loading, unloading, and other assigned tasks as neededMaintain professionalism and represent Procon positively when interacting with customers, vendors, and jobsite personnelFollow all company policies, safety procedures, and DOT requirementsQualifications and SkillsValid CDL requiredClean driving record requiredPrevious CDL driving experience requiredKnowledge of DOT regulations and safe load securement practicesStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsGood communication and problem-solving skillsDependable with a strong work ethic and positive attitudeAbility to adapt to changing schedules and delivery needsExperience hauling equipment, materials, or construction-related loads preferredEquipment operating experience preferredMechanical aptitude and ability to identify equipment concerns preferredWork Environment and ScheduleLocal and regional travel throughout Virginia, North Carolina, and surrounding statesEarly morning start times are commonDrivers are typically home nightlyOccasional extended days may occur depending on delivery schedules, traffic conditions, or backhaul opportunitiesWork is performed in varying weather and jobsite conditionsPhysical RequirementsAbility to climb, bend, lift, and secure loadsAbility to lift and move materials and equipment as neededAbility to work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditionsAbility to safely enter and exit trucks, trailers, and equipment multiple times throughout the dayPay and Benefits$0.60 per mile for driving timeHourly rate for non-driving/shop timeHealth insuranceDental insuranceVision insuranceShort-term disability coverage401(k) with company matchPaid holidaysPaid vacationCompany store creditThis job description is not intended to be a complete list of all duties, responsibilities, or activities required for this position.
