$24 - $36 an hour

Our practice, Oral Surgery Group, is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Surgical Dental Assistant—Discharge to join our team! This is a unique and exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about oral surgery and committed to delivering outstanding care. As a Surgical Dental Assistant—Discharge, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our Oral Surgeons with various surgical procedures.

The Surgical Dental Assistant—Discharge will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our Oral Surgeons throughout various surgical procedures.

The successful candidate will be able to:

• Discharge and Continue Care for Patients:
• Work closely with the surgical team to ensure that patients are prepared for discharge and equipped with the necessary information and resources for post-operative care.
• Serve as a liaison between in-patient care and follow-up care.
• Conduct thorough assessments of patients prior to discharge to ensure their readiness to leave the facility.
• Monitor patients for any signs of complications or adverse reactions to medications and intervene as necessary.
• Quick to respond in an emergency – understand all materials in crash cart and efficient in emergency protocol.
• Ensure that quality of care is maintained or surpassed.

Patient Support and Education:

• Provide post-operative care instructions to patients, including oral hygiene practices, medication administration, and dietary restrictions.
• Answer patients' questions and concerns, offering reassurance and empathy throughout their treatment process.
• Educate patients about oral health, prevention methods, and the importance of regular dental visits.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting treatment plans, procedures, and progress.

Administrative Duties:

• Schedule patient appointments and coordinate with other dental staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
• Manage patient records, update medical histories, and handle billing and insurance documentation.
• Assist with inventory management, ordering dental supplies, and maintaining equipment.
• Perform any and all other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid X-ray license is required.
• Previous experience as a dental assistant, particularly in Oral Surgery, is highly desirable.
• Discharge experience is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of oral surgery procedures, instruments, and materials.
• Familiarity with infection control protocols and safety measures.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in dental software and computer literacy.
