Assistant Store Manager

Back Forty Ace Hardware is looking for a motivated, dependable, and customer-focused Assistant Store Manager to help lead our team and deliver the helpful, hometown service our community deserves.

As an Assistant Store Manager, you will work closely with the Store Manager to support daily operations, lead and develop associates, maintain store standards, and help ensure every customer receives exceptional service. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems, and helping build a strong team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager with daily store operations and overall store performance
• Lead, coach, train, and support store associates
• Delegate responsibilities and monitor progress to ensure tasks are completed effectively
• Provide exceptional customer service and assist with resolving customer concerns
• Help maintain merchandising, inventory, pricing, and overall store standards
• Assist with managing sales, expenses, store assets, and operational goals
• Help create a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming environment for customers and associates
• Lead by example and actively support associates on the sales floor
• Assist with scheduling and ensuring appropriate store coverage
• Help develop team members and encourage continued growth and improvement
• Serve as a leader in the Store Manager's absence and help ensure smooth store operations

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail, supervisory, or leadership experience preferred
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to lead, coach, motivate, and develop a team
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to stay organized and effectively manage multiple responsibilities
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on retail environment
• Willingness to learn and develop knowledge across multiple hardware and home improvement categories
• Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays as needed

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a shift
• Ability to perform duties throughout the store, including assisting customers and handling merchandise
