Cardiovascular Tech - Cardiac Cath Lab

Overview The Cardiovascular Tech in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory provides technical support during invasive procedures and basic patient care under the direction and supervision of the physician. The Cardiac Cath Department at Lawrence Memorial Hospital Health works with cutting edge technology across coronary intervention, vascular surgery intervention, interventional radiology, and electrophysiology. You will be part of a team of physicians, radiologic technologists and nurses dedicated to delivering excellent patient care to a diverse population. The role emphasizes outstanding customer service and maintaining respectful relationships with patients and colleagues. Responsibilities Under the general supervision of the Cath Lab Supervisor and CV Services Director, assist with diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiology patient procedures in the catheterization labs in cooperation with physicians and nursing personnel. Provide technical support during catheterization procedures and accurately connect patients to EKG monitors. Establish arterial/venous line setup prior to procedures; operate equipment and demonstrate proficiency with hemodynamic monitoring and imaging systems. Utilize equipment such as hemodynamic monitors, video/imaging systems, oximeters, contrast injectors, cardiac output units, oxygen consumption monitors, quantitative analysis software, intravascular ultrasound units, Doppler, intra-aortic balloon pump, fractional flow reserve, ablator, Impella, temporary pacemaker, and other related devices. Perform catheter and sheath removal after invasive procedures and assess the access site after hemostasis is obtained. Provide post-procedural patient instructions regarding activity and care. Participate in on-call rotation and respond within 35 minutes to the Cath Lab when on call. After one year of work in the Cath Lab and 600 procedures, prepare to sit for the RCIS certification exam when eligible. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications Required: A graduate of a certificate or degree-granting program or post-secondary program in a health science (including, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, nursing or paramedic/EMT) program; must meet eligibility requirements to qualify for RCIS or RCES Certification. Must obtain RCIS/RCES within 18 months of employment. BLS/ACLS Certification. Preferred: Work experience in a clinical/patient care role in a hospital setting; demonstrated interest in cardiology and cardiac procedures.
