Assistant Director, Austin Convention Center - Sales & Marketing

The Assistant Director of the Austin Convention Center – Sales and Marketing will step into a pivotal leadership role at a transformational moment for the Department. With the debut of the expanded Austin Convention Center in 2029, this leader will be charged with closing a critical gap in long-term revenue strategy and positioning the Center for sustained national and international competitiveness. Overseeing an operating budget of at least $33 million, the Assistant Director will drive revenue generation for the new facility through strategic leadership of the Sales Division, responsible for more than $150 million in annual revenue. The role also provides executive oversight of Sales for the Palmer Events Center and the Department’s Public Information and Marketing Division. This portfolio currently includes 25 team members, with planned growth to 30 full-time employees by 2029 to support the expanded operational footprint. The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping this evolution by designing a comprehensive, forward-looking sales strategy, strengthening the department’s market presence, and rebuilding a high-performing marketing function capable of elevating the Austin Convention Center’s brand on a global stage.
