PT Instructor, Ethnic Studies Salary: $2,253.10/CAH - $2,521.46/CAH Start Date: Fall 2026 Location: Las Positas College, 3000 Campus Hill Dr., Livermore, CA 94551 Job Summary: The Chabot‑Las Positas Community College District is seeking a PT Instructor, Ethnic Studies for Las Positas College. Applicants will be expected to provide instruction in Ethnic Studies and one or more of the following: African American and Black Studies, ChicanX and LatinX Studies, Native American and Indigenous Studies. Duties and Responsibilities Deliver coherent lectures; Teach with imagination, vigor, and clarity; Create assignments that serve instructional goals; Create exams and/or other evaluative assignments that test mastery of course content; Create course materials that serve instructional goals; Organize course content so that it encompasses authorized course outlines; Identify basic and essential concepts and develop materials and strategies that assist students in understanding core subject matter; Prepare carefully and organize a course which adheres to the objectives and suggested materials listed in the course outline; Meet deadlines for submission of syllabi, census rosters, and grades; Participate in program and subject area improvement tasks, such as assessing Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs); Ability to teach in‑person, online, hybrid, and dual enrollment courses. Minimum Qualifications Master's in African‑American/Black/Africana Studies, Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Chicana/o Studies, or Asian‑American Studies; Native American/American Indian Studies; or Master's in Ethnic Studies or equivalent; Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community‑college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity‑minded practices within the classroom. Desirable Qualifications Ability to teach one or more of the following: Asian American Studies, African American and Black Studies, Introduction to Race and Ethnicity; College teaching experience; Experience using Canvas LMS.
