Position Title Site Superintendent – Critical Infrastructure Position Location Texas – preferred locations include Amarillo, Lubbock, Big Spring, Fort Worth, Dallas, El Paso, or surrounding areas. SALARY Smart Tech Contracting recognizes that salary ranges published on job boards do not always reflect our internal compensation bands. For well‑qualified candidates, compensation may exceed posted ranges and is commensurate with experience, responsibility, and leadership capability. Compensation may include base salary, bonus, per diem, and relocation assistance as applicable. Job Summary The Site Superintendent – Critical Infrastructure is the primary on‑site leader and field execution authority for Smart Tech Contracting on hyperscale and colocation data center construction projects ranging from 40 MW to 200 MW. This role owns day‑to‑day site operations, supervising all STC labor, subcontractors, and partner firms while coordinating activities across all trades on site. The Site Superintendent serves as the single point of contact and face of STC to General Contractor superintendents, owner representatives, commissioning authorities, and key trade partners. The Site Superintendent is accountable for safety, schedule, quality, and field coordination across the full lifecycle of construction, installation, startup, and commissioning. This role operates as a peer to GC superintendents and project management leadership, exercising independent authority to direct work, resolve conflicts, and elevate risks as needed to protect schedule, safety, and execution quality. Essential Functions Site Leadership & Trade Coordination (40%) Lead all STC field operations and supervise all on‑site labor, subcontractors, and partner firms. Coordinate daily activities across all trades, including electrical, mechanical, automation, controls, networking, commissioning, and specialty vendors. Serve as STC’s primary on‑site representative to GC superintendents, owner construction managers, and commissioning authorities. Lead daily coordination meetings, site walks, and trade alignment sessions to maintain execution flow. Resolve field conflicts and sequencing issues in real time to protect schedule and quality. Schedule, Execution & Quality Management (25%) Develop and maintain 3‑week look‑ahead schedules aligned with the GC master schedule. Direct field execution for installation, startup, testing, and commissioning activities across all scopes. Enforce QA/QC standards and ensure work is executed in accordance with contract documents, drawings, and specifications. Track field progress, manpower loading, and productivity to support project controls and reporting. Identify scope gaps, constructability issues, and execution risks; escalating with clear recommendations. Safety & Risk Management (20%) Own site safety execution in coordination with STC safety leadership and GC safety teams. Enforce OSHA, NFPA 70E, STC safety policies, and project‑specific safety requirements. Lead daily toolbox talks, safety stand‑downs, and high‑risk activity planning. Exercise stop‑work authority for unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are implemented and verified. Oversee energized work, cutovers, and high‑risk operations in coordination with safety and commissioning teams. Client, GC & Stakeholder Engagement (15%) Represent STC professionally during owner, GC, and commissioning site walks and executive reviews. Communicate site status, risks, and mitigation plans to project management and leadership. Maintain strong working relationships with trade partners and vendors to drive collaboration and accountability. Support lessons learned capture and feedback into STC field execution standards and playbooks. Position Requirements Minimum 8–10 years of experience in field supervision, site leadership, or superintendent roles within mission‑critical, hyperscale, or complex MEP construction environments. Proven experience supervising multi‑trade construction sites and managing subcontractors and partner firms. Strong understanding of construction sequencing, safety, quality control, and commissioning workflows. Demonstrated ability to serve as primary site authority and client‑facing representative. Experience coordinating with GC superintendents, owner representatives, and commissioning authorities. Working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E, and high‑risk construction activities. Strong leadership presence, decisiveness, and ability to operate under schedule pressure. Proficient with construction documentation, drawings, schedules, and digital field tools (Procore, BIM 360, or similar). Excellent communication skills with both trades and executive stakeholders. Ability to plan, delegate, and direct work across large, fast‑paced job sites. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Frequently manipulating, moving, or grasping tools, devices, materials, and construction‑related components. Frequently required to remain in a stationary position for coordination meetings, planning, reporting, and documentation. Frequently moving through active construction sites, critical facility environments, and outdoor conditions, including exposure to low temperatures, high temperatures, precipitation, wind, dust, and noise. Frequently ascending and descending stairs and ladders to access equipment, work areas, and elevated platforms. Occasionally required to position self under or over equipment, including in tight or confined spaces. Occasionally required to move or lift equipment, materials, or tools weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequently required to wear appropriate PPE and work in high‑decibel environments. TRAVEL / RELOCATION REQUIREMENTS Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to rent vehicles. Must live in or relocate to Texas, with preferred locations including Amarillo, Lubbock, Big Spring, Fort Worth, Dallas, El Paso, or surrounding areas. Full‑time, daily presence is expected at the assigned project site for the duration of the project. For Texas‑based candidates who are not directly local to the assigned project site, travel cadence may be flexible/negotiable depending on home location and project assignment. Out‑of‑state candidates must be open to approximately 50–75% travel based on business needs. Willingness and availability to work extended hours, weekends, and night shifts during critical construction, testing, commissioning, and cutover windows. Effective May 7, 2025, a valid REAL ID or acceptable alternative, such as a passport, is required for domestic air travel. Travel may involve transportation by car or plane depending on destination and business need. Education / Experience Requirements Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in field leadership roles involving construction execution, subcontractor management, site supervision, and troubleshooting in mission‑critical, hyperscale, or complex MEP construction environments.
