CVOR Surgical Technologist

Job Summary:

The Surgical Services CVOR Technician provides specialized perioperative support in cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries, assisting with complex surgical procedures and ensuring sterile technique and patient safety. This role requires proficiency in scrub duties for cardiothoracic cases and flexibility to support general operating room functions. The technician collaborates closely with surgical teams to facilitate efficient case flow in a high-volume surgical environment. Responsibilities:

• Perform singular scrub duties for cardiothoracic surgical cases including CABG, AVR, AAA, MVR, and minimally invasive valve surgeries.
• Assist with cardiovascular/thoracic, general, laparoscopic, and other surgical specialties as needed.
• Support surgical procedures such as VATS, mediastinoscopy, RATS, carotid cutdowns, and laser lead standby.
• Participate in flexible endoscope reprocessing, preferably including bronchoscopes, EGD scopes, and EBUS.
• Maintain sterile field and surgical instrumentation throughout procedures.
• Float to general operating room cases as required, demonstrating adaptability and quick learning.
• Assist and support team members in learning and procedural efficiency.
• Adhere to hospital policies and safety protocols during all surgical activities.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Minimum 1 year of surgical technologist experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Washington State License.
• Ability to perform singular scrub duties for cardiothoracic surgeries.
• Willingness to work at least 10 call shifts per month.
• Availability to work 4x10 day shifts from 06:30 to 17:00.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification.
• Experience with OB/GYN, plastic, ENT, urology, robotic, orthopedic, neuro/crani, and transplant surgeries.
• Experience with flexible endoscope reprocessing, especially bronchoscopes, EGD scopes, and EBUS.
• Experience working with adolescent patients.

Special Considerations:

• Must agree to work at least 10 call shifts per month, with call hours from 17:00 to 06:30.
• 1-2 weekends per month required.
• Quick learner with flexibility to float between surgical specialties.
• Scrub color allowed is any except reddish orange.
• Use of EPIC charting system.
• Parking costs are covered by the facility.
• Not accepting local candidates; pending licenses accepted.

Scheduling:

• Regular shift schedule is 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (06:30 to 17:00).
• Call shifts required at least 10 times per month, covering evenings and overnight hours.
• Weekend work required 1-2 times per month.
