Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire (30-Day Conversion Potential)

Job Overview

We are seeking a Skilled CNC Machinist with strong manual lathe and setup experience to join a small, team-oriented machining job shop. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity, with the ability to go direct in as little as 30 days based on performance and progression.

This role is not an operator position — we are specifically looking for machinists who can independently set up machines, perform tool changes, and run jobs with minimal supervision.

Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Setup & Operation

• Perform full or partial setups on CNC and manual lathes (primary focus)
• Execute frequent tool changes and insert adjustments
• Operate machining equipment, including manual lathes, CNC lathes, and mills
• Load and run parts while monitoring quality and output
• Maintain efficient production flow in a job shop environment

Production & Quality

• Work primarily with aluminum and some steel components
• Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions
• Inspect parts using standard measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
• Ensure finished parts meet required tolerances and quality standards

Shop & Safety

• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
• Support a collaborative, team-focused environment

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of machining experience (5+ preferred)
• Strong experience with manual lathes (REQUIRED)
• Proven ability to perform machine setups and tool changes independently
• Ability to read blueprints and verify tolerances
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work without constant supervision
• Comfortable working in a small team environment (3–4 machinists)

Nice to Have (Not Required)

• Experience with Mastercam
• Exposure to CNC mills and automated lathes
• Experience in job shop or custom machining environments

Not a Fit If:

• You are strictly a CNC operator (no setup experience)
• You require step-by-step supervision to run jobs

Schedule

• Monday – Thursday: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Friday: Half-day (overtime opportunity)
• No weekends

Pay & Benefits

• $28.00 – $38.00/hour (based on experience)
• Overtime available on Fridays
• Opportunity to convert to direct hire in as little as 30 days
• Climate-controlled shop (heated & air-conditioned)

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
