Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Paving Inspector to join our team. The Paving Inspector provides construction inspection services for roadway, sidewalk, curb, striping, and landscaping restoration resulting from utility construction and maintenance activities. The inspector ensures compliance with water standards, contract requirements, and applicable agency specifications through field inspection, contractor coordination, documentation, quality assurance, and final acceptance of restoration work.

Key Responsibilities:

· Inspect asphalt paving operations for compliance with project plans, specifications, and approved construction procedures.

· Observe and document roadway milling, paving, patching, joint construction, tack coat application, and surface finishing activities.

· Monitor contractor operations to verify proper placement, thickness, alignment, grades, and cross slopes.

· Verify that paving equipment and rolling operations meet project requirements.

· Coordinate and document asphalt sampling and testing activities.

· Review delivery tickets and verify material quantities, mix types, and sources.

· Monitor compaction operations and ensure density requirements are achieved.

· Conduct field measurements and maintain accurate inspection records.

· Prepare daily inspection reports, field logs, photographs, and quantity calculations.

· Identify construction deficiencies and communicate observations to project management staff.

· Attend project meetings and assist with resolving field issues.

· Coordinate with contractors, utility companies, agency representatives, and project stakeholders as needed.

· Ensure traffic control devices and maintenance of traffic operations are implemented in accordance with approved plans.

· Monitor compliance with safety requirements and environmental regulations.

· Coordinating contractors and local authorities.

· Performing final inspections and approving completed work and approve for payment.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required and coursework in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
• Understanding construction methods, materials, geotechnical testing and terminology.
• Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications (training provided).
• Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.
• Minimum 3 years of experience on paving operations related to construction projects.
• Certifications: Erosion & Sediment Control (yellow card); Traffic Control Flagger;
• Additional certifications are required to be completed within one year of hire.

Preferred Skills (Not Required):

· Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.

· Experience using eBuilder
