Maintenance Mechanic

Maintenance Mechanic Industrial Gearbox Assembly & Repair

We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild industrial gearboxes and related equipment. This role involves mechanical assembly, inspections, blueprint reading, and using precision measuring tools to ensure equipment meets quality and performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and disassemble gearboxes and mechanical components.
• Troubleshoot equipment and determine root causes of failures.
• Use precision measuring tools to inspect and verify components.
• Read blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Perform grinding, polishing, and mechanical finishing work.
• Maintain repair records and follow safety procedures.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of gearbox repair or heavy mechanical assembly experience.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience using micrometers, calipers, and precision gauges.
• Knowledge of gearbox repair and assembly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Machining experience with mills or lathes.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Industrial painting experience.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods.

Job Type & Location: This is a contract position based out of Mokena, IL.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
