Organization: Mercor Position: Accounting Expert Referral Partner: Crossing Hurdles Type: Hourly Contract Compensation: $50–$60/hour Location: Remote Duration: Short-term with potential for extension Commitment: 10-40hrs/week, fully remote and asynchronous Role Responsibilities Review various U.S. federal and state tax returns and associated forms/schedules, including Form 1040 series, W‑2, 1099 variants, K‑1, and amended returns Extract concise insights regarding filing status, income sources, deductions, credits, refunds or amounts owed, and cross‑year changes Create verification checklists and follow‑up questions an accountant might ask to confirm accuracy or resolve ambiguities Flag anomalies and edge cases such as multi‑state moves, amended filings, alternative minimum tax issues, unusual credits, penalties, and interest Adhere to confidentiality guidelines and ensure thoroughness in documentation Ideal Qualifications CPA, Enrolled Agent, or seasoned U.S. tax professional with strong experience in individual and business tax preparation across multiple states Strong knowledge of Form 1040 ecosystems and state tax equivalents including non‑resident, part‑year, and amended filings Exceptional written communication skills capable of producing crisp, well‑referenced notes and checklists Detail‑oriented with sound judgment on materiality, data quality, and consistency Application Process Upload resume AI interview based on your resume (15 min) Seniority level Mid‑Senior level Employment type Contract Job function Accounting/Auditing Industries Accounting and Financial Services #J-18808-Ljbffr
