Training Specialist II

AIP is looking for a Training Specialist II to work in Brownsville, TX. To join our team of outstanding professionals, The Training Instructor manages, organizes, and administers all aspects of the DHS/ICE contractually mandated training at PIDC. The Training Instructor is responsible for assisting with the implementation of training programs and maintaining accurate training records in accordance with the contract, ACA, PBNDS, and all applicable laws, regulations, and procedures. Responsibilities Directly supervises staff attending classroom training. Assist with the development of the training program curriculum and make the necessary revisions to meet contract requirements. Develop classroom and field-training strategies, to ensure staff maintain competency. Ensure new employees are supervised during all phases of training. Assist with conducting monthly audits of the training program and records. Ensure training files are complete, accurate and in compliance with ACA and PBNDS requirements. Prepare training class outlines/handouts, ensuring copies is provided to the COR. Assist with developing full lesson plans for all blocks of training and develops presentations. Provide First Aid, AED, CPR training as required. Provide Disturbance Control Team training to designated staff. May act as a DCT Commander. Provide defensive tactic instruction for new hires and annual refresher training. Assist with developing training assessments and tests for training classes to measure staff retention of information. Managing the Personnel Qualification Standards (PQS) program ensuring that PQS forms are completed on all newly hired personnel prior to post assignment. Ensuring a database of PQS qualifications is maintained. May counsel staff or recommend disciplinary action for failure to complete required training. Will perform other duties as assigned by the Training Director. Supervision The Training Instructor reports to and is supervised by the Training Manager and directly supervises up to or may be responsible for supervising up to 7 or more employees in a classroom setting. Qualifications 1-2 years specialized experience as a Training Officer in detention operations or a combination of higher education and training experience totaling 2 years. Knowledgeable with working related experience in PBNDS, ACA, PREA and OSHA compliance. High school diploma or equivalent. Must be a Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED instructor or must be able to acquire certification prior appointment. Must be a certified instructor from an appropriate local, state, federal, or educational organization. Must be a certified firearms instructor from an appropriate local, state, or federal organization. Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Computer skills including proficiency in various Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Organizational, management and leadership skills commensurate with position. Knowledge of union CBA’s, company policies and procedures, PIDC and ICE policies and procedures. US citizen or person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence. Must have resided in the US for the last five (5) years (unless abroad on official US government duty). Must be able to obtain a favorable Suitability for Employment determination through ICE. Must have a Social Security card issued by the Social Security Administration. Preferred Qualifications Certified firearms instructor from an appropriate local, state, or federal organization. Bilingual (Speak, read, and write in Spanish).
