Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Specialist plays a key role in daily warehouse operations by communicating with truck drivers, coordinating with shop floor operators, and handling picking, packing, and inventory tasks. This position uses shop floor systems to manage customer orders and tooling, ensuring accurate data entry, organized workflow, and timely shipment of parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with truck drivers to coordinate inbound and outbound shipments.
• Perform daily picking and packing of parts and orders according to customer requirements.
• Use shop floor control systems to enter and maintain customer information, including names, addresses, shipping addresses, due dates, and part numbers.
• Create accurate work orders for tooling sent in by customers for re-sharpening.
• Speak with operators on the shop floor to clarify parts, customer cards, and order details.
• Handle inventory tasks, including order selection, packing, and packaging of products.
• Use RF scanners and other warehouse tools to track inventory and shipments.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service when interacting with internal teams and external customers.
• Maintain high attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and correct labeling, packing, and documentation.
• Organize daily workload and multitask effectively within the shop to meet due dates and shipping schedules.
• Adapt to frequently changing dynamics in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and efficiency.
• Follow all shop policies and dress code requirements, including appropriate safety footwear.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience in manufacturing environments.
• Previous experience in shipping and receiving operations.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with truck drivers, shop floor operators, and customers.
• Strong computer skills for data entry and use of shop floor control systems.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and orders simultaneously.
• Effective time management skills to meet due dates and shipping schedules.
• High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data entry, labeling, and documentation.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities.
• Positive attitude and self-motivated, “go-getter” approach to work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with inventory management and order selection processes.
• Experience in logistics or warehouse operations.
• Customer service experience in a manufacturing or distribution setting.
• Proficiency using RF scanners for tracking inventory and shipments.
• Ability to pack and package products securely and efficiently.
• Comfort working in a small, quiet, and collaborative shop environment.
• No formal degree required; success driven by experience, reliability, and strong work ethic.

Work Environment

The role is based in a quiet, helpful shop with a small-team feel, where colleagues are supportive and management is flexible and willing to work with employees on issues as they arise. The facility operates both first and second shifts, providing options for different schedules. The dress code is casual but safety-focused, requiring steel-toed shoes, jeans, and a T-shirt. The environment is organized yet fast-paced, with frequent interaction between the shipping area and the shop floor, and regular use of shop floor systems, computers, and RF scanners.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fond du Lac, WI.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Fond du Lac,WI.
