Locums Neurology NP or PA-C Position Overview

Position: Locum Neurology APP (NP or PA)

Schedule

• Monday-Friday
• 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
• Daytime coverage only

Practice Model When In-House Neurologist is Onsite (Monday & Tuesday)

The APP will:

• Round with the attending neurologist each morning
• Manage and see follow-up patients
• Communicate findings and recommendations with the attending physician
• Assist with ongoing patient management and care coordination
• Document appropriately in the EMR

When Tele-Neurology is Covering (Wednesday-Friday)

The APP will:

• Independently perform follow-up neurology consultations
• Communicate directly with tele-neurologists regarding patient care
• Conduct evaluations and relay information to consulting neurologists
• Complete all EMR documentation
• Partner with tele-neurology providers for consultative support as needed

Patient Population

The Neurology APP will primarily support:

• Stroke patients
• Seizures
• Altered Mental Status (AMS)
• Metabolic encephalopathy and metabolic neurologic conditions
• Guillain-Barré Syndrome
• General Neurology patients
• ICU neurology patients

Neurology Coverage Structure In-House Neurology

• Coverage: Monday and Tuesday
• Functions as a consulting service
• Provides recommendations only
• Does not enter orders into the EMR

Tele-Neurology

• Coverage: Wednesday-Friday
• New model implemented approximately two weeks ago
• Available for consultation and collaborative management
• Can conduct consults alongside APP when needed

APP Responsibilities Clinical Duties

• Follow-up consultations
• Neurologic assessments
• Daily patient management
• Communication with consulting neurologists
• Care coordination with primary teams

Administrative Duties

• Complete EMR documentation
• Relay recommendations from neurology consultants to treating teams
• Ensure continuity of neurologic care across both onsite and tele-neurology coverage models
