Material Handler

For a warehouse operation based in Romeoville, we are seeking a Material Handler to support on-site logistics and inventory movement during the afternoon and evening shift. This full-time temporary role offers the opportunity to transition to permanent employment based on performance and business needs. The Material Handler will work Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., handling a variety of tasks involving forklift operation, material movement, and adherence to warehouse safety practices. The position is suited to candidates with at least one year of experience operating sit-down or cherry picker forklifts and who are comfortable working in a structured, safety-focused environment.

What You Will Do?

• Operate sit-down or cherry picker forklifts to safely move, load, and unload materials within the warehouse according to established procedures and instructions.
• Handle incoming and outgoing materials, including staging, stacking, and organizing inventory in designated areas to maintain efficient warehouse operations.
• Follow warehouse safety compliance requirements at all times, including adherence to equipment operating guidelines, use of designated walkways, and observance of hazard signage.
• Perform basic equipment inspections on forklifts before use, checking for visible damage, fluid levels, and proper operation to help prevent accidents and equipment failures.
• Maintain attention to detail when moving and storing materials, ensuring correct labeling, placement, and handling to reduce errors and support accurate inventory control.

Your Skills

• Demonstrated forklift operation experience of at least one year, specifically with sit-down or cherry picker equipment, following all safety and handling procedures consistently.
• Practical material handling skills, including loading, unloading, stacking, and organizing products or components in a warehouse setting with care and accuracy.
• Strong warehouse safety compliance mindset, with the ability to follow written and verbal safety instructions and adhere to company policies and guidelines.
• Ability to perform basic equipment inspection steps, such as visual checks and functional tests, to identify issues and report concerns before operating forklifts.
• High attention to detail in completing tasks, including verifying materials, following instructions, and minimizing handling errors during daily activities.
• Proven teamwork capabilities, working cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers to coordinate material movement, share information, and support overall warehouse efficiency.

Pay Details: $18.95 per hour
