Monday - Friday, No Weekends and No Holidays 8:30pm - 5:00pm The Cardiothoracic RN role supports a highly specialized outpatient practice caring for patients before and after complex cardiothoracic and vascular procedures. This position partners closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and support staff to ensure patients are fully prepared for their visits and surgeries. The RN plays a key role in coordinating care, supporting clinical workflows, and providing calm, knowledgeable guidance to patients facing major procedures. In this primarily administrative and coordination?focused role, the RN manages, schedules diagnostic testing, processes orders, and performs phone triage through in?basket and MyChart communications and prior authorizations. Responsibilities also include reviewing patient histories for completeness, assisting with follow?up reminders, and supporting limited clinical tasks such as wound care and vital signs when needed. Patients are seen for conditions including open?heart surgery, lung and esophageal procedures, and ongoing vascular care, offering a wide variety of clinical exposure. This role is ideal for an experienced RN who enjoys a fast?paced ambulatory environment, excels at multitasking and communication, and values teamwork. The department is known for its highly supportive physicians, approachable nurse practitioners, and a long?tenured, collaborative team culture. Provides general nursing care to patients and families throughout the continuum of care in diverse health care settings. The RN is accountable for the practice of nursing as defined by the Ohio Board of Nursing. The RN delegates nursing tasks to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and unlicensed assistive personnel (UAPs) using the criteria written in the Ohio Nurse Practice Act. According to department policies and nursing care standards, provides professional nursing care services to patients. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care provided to assigned patients.

Responsibilities And Duties:

30% Assessment/Diagnosis Performs initial, ongoing, and functional health status assessment as applicable to the population and or individual.

30% Outcomes Identification/Planning Based on nursing diagnoses and collaborative problems, documents planned nursing interventions to achieve outcomes appropriate to patient needs.

20% Implementation/Evaluation Evaluates and documents response to nursing interventions and achievement of outcomes at appropriately determined intervals; as part of a multidisciplinary team, revises plan of care based on evaluative data.

10% Leadership- Actively participates in process improvement activities to achieve targeted measures of clinical quality, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's Degree: Nursing BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, RN - Registered Nurse - Ohio Board of Nursing
