Human Resources Manager Position Title: Human Resources Manager STATUS: non-exempt, part-time, 80% time (32 hours a week) REPORTS TO: Director of Finance and Administration POSITIONS REPORTING TO THIS POSITION: none LOCATION: Reno, Nevada with regular travel to WBC's offices in Smith and Wellington, Nevada. EXPECTED PAY RANGE: $35-39/hr DOE Walker Basin Conservancy leads one of North Americas most ambitious restoration efforts: saving Walker Lake while supporting the communities, agriculture, and wildlife that depend on the Walker River. With roughly 30 full-time and 15 seasonal employees, the Conservancy manages water rights acquisitions, creates public access and provides environmental education, stewards and protects public lands, and operates a native?plant nursery and seed farm. Be proactive and find solutions. Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information. Responsibilities Employee relations Maintains virtually error-free human resources records and files. Supports supervisors with performance management and policy enforcement, including disciplinary action, coaching, and performance improvement plans. Leads workplace investigations and conflict resolution, coordinating with outside counsel as needed. Leads staff annual evaluation process. Communicates updates to Conservancy staff regarding new hires, departures, policy changes, upcoming events, etc. Conducts 30, 60, and 90 check-ins with new employees as well as stay and exit interviews. Coordinates staff appreciate activities related to birthdays, anniversaries, and social events. Supports and tracks employee training and professional development activities. Recruitment and onboarding/offboarding Develops standardized position description and job add templates. Owns development and implementation of onboarding and offboarding processes in company HRIS system (UKG). Includes leading module development and roll out. Works with hiring manager to post job ads across a variety of platforms and screen qualified applicants. Assists with scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks, and notifying applicants of hiring outcome. Drafts offer letters and ensure all onboarding paperwork and checklists are complete for new hires. Ensures all offboarding paperwork and checklists are complete for all separations. Policy and Administration Revises and maintains company handbook, ensuring compliance with all State and Federal regulations. Manages workers compensation reporting and claim tracking. Supports the Safety Committee with incident reporting and workplace safety investigations. Oversees benefits administration, including facilitating employee enrollment, disseminating plan information, and communicating with plan administrators. Requirements Three or more years of demonstrated HR experience. High degree of professionalism and discretion. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. Highly organized and detailed-oriented with strong commitment to accuracy. Knowledgeable of HR best practices and current State, Federal, and local employment laws and regulations. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and comfortable learning web-based project management and HRIS apps such as Monday.com and UKG, etc. SHRM or PHR certification preferred but not required.
