About Sunrise Play Café
Sunrise Play Café is a family play space and café in Tacoma's Stadium District (204 St. Helens Ave). Kids get a safe, imaginative Play Plaza made for ages 0–6. Grown-ups get great coffee, fresh food, and a chance to recharge. Our team members are called Guides, and our guests are our friends. We're looking for warm, reliable people who love kids, take pride in a clean and welcoming space, and want to help build Tacoma's favorite gathering place. Rise. Play. Shine.
Pay: $18.13/hr plus pooled tips.
Schedule: Three shifts daily, 8am–12pm, 12pm–4pm, and 4pm–8pm.
Part-time, with the option to work up to 40 hours per week.
About the role
We're looking for a customer service and hospitality pro who loves making people feel welcome. You bring the café side of Sunrise to life. You greet every friend with a smile, make great drinks, run the register, and keep the café clean and stocked so parents can actually relax.
What you'll do
- Make espresso drinks, drip coffee, and seasonal specials to Sunrise recipe standards on our La Marzocco
- Take orders and payments at the main register, including all cash transactions
- Serve beer, cider, and wine to guests 21 and over, following our wristband system and 2-drink maximum (MAST permit required for alcohol service)
- Keep the bakery case, café counters, and seating areas clean, stocked, and welcoming
- Restock cups, lids, napkins, and supplies throughout the shift
- Complete café opening and closing tasks: espresso machine cleaning, kegerator line flush, syrups to the walk-in, and dishes
What we're looking for
- Customer service or hospitality experience required; barista or café experience is a plus, and we'll train someone who is eager to learn
- Friendly, upbeat, and works well with a team at a fast pace
- Evening availability (4pm–8pm) is a plus
- Cash handling experience is a plus
- WA Food Worker Card, or able to get one within 14 days of hire
- MAST permit, or willing to get one (must meet WA age requirements to serve alcohol)
- Willing to complete a background check
