Position Description:  

The Cloud and Cybersecurity Technician is a senior technical role responsible for safeguarding the organization's cloud environments, digital assets, and information systems through the implementation of security controls, monitoring, risk management, and compliance initiatives. The role serves as a primary contributor to cloud security architecture, cybersecurity operations, identity and access management, threat detection and response, vulnerability management, and regulatory compliance efforts, while partnering with IT and business stakeholders to support secure technology adoption across the organization. 

This position plays a key role in executing cybersecurity strategy, strengthening the organization's security posture, responding to incidents, and advancing cloud security and governance initiatives. While the role does not define enterprise technology strategy, it is responsible for implementing and maintaining approved security architectures, controls, policies, and operational practices that protect organizational systems, data, and services. The Cloud and Cybersecurity Technician also provides technical leadership in security-focused projects, continuous monitoring, risk remediation, and compliance validation to ensure a resilient and secure technology environment.

Requirements:

Responsibilities:  

Security & Compliance (Execution & Operations)  

• Support execution of the organization’s security framework through tooling, configuration, and operational follow-through. 
• Perform alert monitoring and initial incident triage, escalating to leadership or vendors as appropriate. 
• Maintain operational ownership of incident response, including coordination, remediation execution, and documentation. 
• Assist with vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation efforts across infrastructure, platforms, and vendors. 
• Support user security awareness and risk training initiatives developed by leadership. 
• Assist with audit preparation and compliance validation, including evidence collection and remediation tracking. 

Vendor & Project Coordination  

• Coordinate with external vendors and managed service providers to support infrastructure, security, and platform operations. 
• Escalate incidents and technical issues to vendors as required and track resolution through closure. 
• Support technology projects by executing technical tasks, validating changes, and ensuring operational readiness. 
• Participate in change management workflows, ensuring infrastructure and security changes follow approved processes. 

IT Operations & Cross-Role Support  

• Provide Tier 2–3 technical support for infrastructure, network, and platform-level issues. 
• Assist the Senior Systems Administrator and/or Systems Support/Helpdesk (L1) role during periods of increased demand or complex operational work. 
• Support onboarding and offboarding workflows as needed to ensure access, systems, and infrastructure readiness. 
• Participate in requirements gathering and customer-facing analysis for infrastructure and platform initiatives. 

Quality, Documentation & Continuous Improvement  

• Perform structured QA and regression testing for infrastructure, network, and platform changes. 
• Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and SOPs for supported systems. 
• Identify infrastructure risks, technical debt, and improvement opportunities and escalate recommendations appropriately. 
• Contribute operational insight to architecture governance and optimization efforts. 

Business & Stakeholder Support  

• Support requirements gathering and internal customer analysis for IT initiatives. 
• Translate business needs into technical tasks and implementation steps. 
• Act as a trusted operational IT partner to internal teams, balancing usability, stability, and risk. 
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer-service skills, with the ability to support users of varying technical ability while adapting quickly to new technologies and processes.

Day in the Life (DITL):  

The day-to-day work of this role is structured around infrastructure reliability, cloud and network administration, security operations execution, and audit readiness. The role is infrastructure-heavy, while maintaining the flexibility to support IT operations and learning platforms as priorities require. 

Daily Activities 

• Review infrastructure, network, and security monitoring; evaluate alerts and perform initial triage. 
• Execute incident response actions for infrastructure or security events, including remediation, documentation, and escalation when needed. 
• Work through security controls audits on a quarterly basis following the audit SOP 
• Resolve Tier 2–3 infrastructure, network, and security cases, maintaining documentation suitable for audit trails. 
• Provide targeted support to IT Operations or learning platforms during escalations, events, or high-impact issues. 

Weekly Activities 

• Participate in infrastructure and security check-ins to review incidents, open risks, and planned changes. 
• Conduct routine network administration and security governance activities, including configuration reviews and access validation. 
• Coordinate with vendors and service providers on infrastructure, security, and remediation work, tracking progress through resolution. 
• Execute QA and regression validation for infrastructure, network, and security changes. 

Monthly/Ongoing Activities 

• Support upcoming security framework audits by validating control implementation, producing evidence, and tracking remediation items to closure. 
• Coordinate vulnerability assessment follow-up and remediation across infrastructure, cloud, and network environments. 
• Review infrastructure and network architecture for configuration drift, risk, and optimization opportunities. 
• Maintain and update infrastructure documentation, runbooks, diagrams, and operational procedures. 
• Support learning platform stability and upgrades during launches, changes, or peak usage periods. 

Operating Expectations 

• Work is planned, tracked, and visible through established case and task management systems. 
• Capacity planning is respected — ad hoc work is balanced against roadmap commitments. 
• Incidents, changes, and improvements follow defined workflows. 
• Clear communication and documentation are considered part of the work, not optional overhead.

Required Education & Experience  

• 5+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure. 
• 2+ Years of experience in Cloud Infrastructure and Management. 
• 2+ Years of experience in Web application support. 
• Experience supporting audits, compliance validation and regulatory requirement reviews. 
• Proven background in delivering excellent customer service.
• Meraki experience with network infrastructure. 
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills. 
• Ability to work within defined governance and escalation structures. 
• Vendor and 3rd party alignment. 
• Technology project scope, deployment and support experience. 

Supervisor Responsibilities:  

• This position does not supervise any employees. 

Work Environment:  

• This position is hybrid and can be performed from our climate-controlled office, with normal office noise. It may also be performed from a location of your choosing, in the city and state you were hired in.
