Psychiatric Nursing Assistant

Position Summary : Psychiatric Nursing Assistants provide skilled assisted nursing and various patient care to their patients in a state hospital facility under nursing supervision. Responsibilities: Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
- Provide care and assist with daily living activities for hospitalized psychiatric patients
- Monitor vital signs and report any observations/changes to supervisors
- Monitor for safety and respond to emergencies
- Data entry in electronic medical records
- Successful completion of a nursing assistant program and current unencumbered CNA certification in the State of Texas
- 2+ years proven experience as a psychiatric mental health tech/aide and knowledge of patient care techniques and patient centered recovery programs
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification and the ability to administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
- Must be willing and able to work in-person in a mental health facility with patients that may have complex diagnosis
- Demonstrated computer and electronic health record skills
- Experience with TIPS and/or other de-escalation and crisis management training preferred
- 40-hours/week on a rotating schedule
- 5 positions available
- Shifts - All shifts include a 30-minute, unpaid meal break; Any overtime must be pre-approved.
- Days - 6:45am - 3:15pm
- Swings - 2:45pm - 11:15pm
- Nights - 11:00pm - 7:00am
- Contract Term: 6 months with options to extend
- Start Date: Determined by clearance date
- Must complete the onboarding process including (but not limited to) successfully passing a drug screen, background check and fingerprinting.
- Texas driver's license may be required
- Compensation: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour; Weekend differentials available
