Analyst, Budget

Analyst, Budget Assists in administering the total College-wide operating budget, including variance analyses, revenue and expenditure forecasting, and provides support to those responsible for budget preparation and administration. Prepares and reconciles the fiscal year budget and integrates the final budget into the financial reporting systems Analyzes variances, forecasts revenue and expenditures, and develops custom reports to assist those responsible for budget preparation and administration Assists in the process of consolidating the annual operating budget Prepares required budget reports for internal and external entities Provides training and/or training support to Budget Unit Leaders (BUL), budget coordinators and others responsible for budget preparation and administration in such areas as Banner Finance functionality, report generation, budget analysis, budget preparation, financial proposal development, financial policies and procedures, etc. Assists and supports periodic site budget meetings to ensure on-going budget reviews and planning while providing a proactive approach to problem resolution and information sharing to promote self-service Participates in, and provides project support for feasibility studies, process improvements/re-engineering and achieving executive management strategic objectives, benchmarking, strategic planning development and measurement of key performance indicators Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field. Significant related experience may substitute for education. Minimum of three years of demonstrated full-time progressively responsible accounting and/or budget experience with responsibility for budget preparation, administration and analysis. Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team. Demonstrated experience in a role requiring diverse problem-solving methods in a variety of situations. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Possess working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus. Possess strong organizational and time management skills. Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to foster a team environment and work collaboratively. Ability to research and analyze issues and develop solutions. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment. Ability to work accurately with great attention to detail. Possess excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships. Ability to effectively respond to requests from multiple levels of the College in various departments. Demonstrated intermediate project management skills. Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint. Demonstrated advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle matters requiring privacy and sensitivity. Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and quality. Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of the community. Demonstrated governmental and fund accounting experience. Physical Demands/Working Conditions The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc. Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite. Target Starting Salary Range Target Starting Salary Range: $64,000 to $66,000. The final offer for the successful candidate is targeted to fall within this range but will be based upon an assessment of internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications in relation to the minimum and/or preferred job requirement(s).
