Assistant Controller

We are recruiting for an Assistant Controller at a growing non-profit organization. This is an integral senior finance role reporting to the Controller, with responsibility for the accounts payable accounting cycle, supervision of accounting staff, and broader support of accounting operations, compliance, and audit readiness across a complex, multi-entity organization.

What you'll do:

• Own all aspects of the accounts payable accounting cycle
• Supervise and develop accounting staff
• Co-manage monthly close processes, including consolidation and intercompany transactions across multiple entities
• Approve bank transactions including payments and transfers
• Analyze and monitor cash flow, perform cash balance projections
• Serve as the primary AP liaison for multiple departments
• Support annual audit preparation and serve as a key point of contact for auditors
• Support tax compliance and filings, including nonprofit-specific requirements
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency across a high-volume transaction environment
• Support system implementations and enhancements

What you need:

• Proven experience managing accounts payable in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Experience supervising and building a high-performing team
• Non-profit and multi-entity accounting experience required, including consolidation and intercompany accounting, and grant funding experience
• Audit experience required, either from a public accounting/audit background or leading audits from the client side
• Tax experience required, nonprofit tax compliance and filings preferred
• Experience with an ERP system required: Sage Intacct or NetSuite specifically
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational, communication, and planning skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously in a complex organization

Schedule: Hybrid, once a month in office for team meetings.
