About the role This remote Mortgage Loan Officer role originates purchase‑focused home loans for customers introduced through Zillow’s ecosystem. You will guide borrowers from first contact through funding, delivering a best‑in‑class customer experience. You may work in one of two specialized lending teams: a high‑volume, phone‑based team for quick conversion or a consultative, market‑based team for strategic partnerships with Zillow Preferred Agents. Remote location: Must reside in Washington DC. Occasional time in company office permitted. Responsibilities Originate and manage purchase mortgage loans from application through closing, ensuring compliance with all requirements. Convert company‑provided purchase opportunities into funded loans through proactive follow‑up and borrower consultation. Build strong relationships with customers and, where applicable, Zillow Preferred Agents and local partners. Maintain an active pipeline and meet defined service levels, productivity metrics, and funding expectations. Leverage Zillow’s CRM, loan origination systems, and data‑driven tools to manage pipeline health and customer engagement. Collaborate with centralized processing, underwriting, and closing teams to move loans efficiently. Deliver a consistent, high‑quality customer experience via phone, email, and text communication. Stay current on market trends, lending programs, and regulatory requirements to provide tailored financing solutions. Maintain active licensing, complete required education, and participate in ongoing professional development. Provide voiceprint data for operational and compliance purposes. Qualifications 3+ years of mortgage origination experience focused on purchase transactions. Active NMLS Loan Originator license in Washington DC or federal bank license. Completion of 20‑hour CORE pre‑licensing education and successful passage of the SAFE Mortgage Loan Originator Test – National Component. Proven success in either a high‑volume, phone‑based sales environment or an agent‑centric referral model. Strong client‑service orientation with consultative sales skills and deep understanding of the mortgage process. Comfortable working in a structured, KPI‑driven environment. Excellent verbal communication, trust‑building, time‑management, organization, and pipeline management skills. Proficiency with CRM, LOS, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Benefits Competitive base pay ranging from $12.00 to $25.00 per hour (Washington DC). Incentive compensation available based on performance and experience.
