Benefits Unitil offers competitive salaries, a consumer-driven health plan, dental and vision coverage, flexible work, company-paid holidays, a robust highly competitive retirement plan and educational assistance. *Note: Benefit offerings may differ between union and non-union employee groups Position Purpose Plan, coordinate, and supervise personnel associated with the installation, calibration, programming, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of meter instrumentation, telemetering communication equipment, Automated Meter Reading (AMR) technology, MV90 meter reading systems, MVRS meter reading system, meter reading handheld and drive-by equipment, credit order processes, and work order processes. Coordinate gas meter inventory data including the purchasing, testing, refurbishment, and retirement of gas meters for three regional operating centers. Analyze account billing components and metering accuracy. This position is that of a working supervisor, responsible for supervising and performing job functions within assigned areas. Ensure that interactions with customers reflect the highest standards of conduct and professionalism. Collaborate with other departments to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of gas metering reading processes. Ensure that all work activities adhere to safe work practices, regulatory requirements, and company policy and procedures. Principal Accountabilities 55% - Supervision Develop plans, estimates, authorizations, schedules, and instructional documents to carry out required maintenance and inspection/testing activities in areas of responsibility Coordinate, direct, and supervise the work activities of the meter reading, credit, gas meter instruments Audit work practices on a monthly basis to ensure employees are adhering to safe work procedures Assign and distribute daily workload to employees and monitor performance Ensure compliance with regulatory meter reading and testing requirements Monitor MV-90 daily operations to ensure interval meter reading data is provided to transportation accounts suppliers according to established timeframes Oversee the installation, programming, and maintenance of AMR devices. Oversee the installation, programming, and maintenance of gas meter instruments. Provide accurate data to the Billing and Credit Departments including the investigation of meter reading data, work order data, location verification. Manage the Large Volume Meter processes and record retention. Map and route existing and newly acquired areas for optimal efficiency and equitable work distribution Ensures the timely completion of all necessary records and documentation needed for accounting, regulatory, asset management, and related purposes. Ensures successful cross-boundary interface with other functional areas in the value chain including customer accounting, customer service, procurement & inventory, plant records, plant accounting, engineering, gas operations and system dispatching. Ensure compliance with safety rules and work practices. Provide input for annual capital and O&M budget development. 25% - Operational Performance - Metering and Non-Payment Ensures customer satisfaction, meeting customer schedules by ensuring all metering equipment is purchased, programmed and tested. Ensures metering accuracy for all customers from the meter through the AMR and MV90 systems. Prepares, maintains, and analyzes statistics and schedules to measure departmental performance. Collaborate with Safety and Training Department to create a safe working environment and ensures achievement of department and company safety goals. Ensure operations and maintenance expenditures meet budget goals. 20% - Leadership Develops and maintains a high-performance work force; acknowledges and rewards employee’s strengths and accomplishments. Qualifications Associates degree with a technical or business focus 5 years of progressively responsible experience including proven supervisory experience.
