Calkins Hehl Rafko, CPAs, PLLC is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join their team in Monroe, MI. Responsibilities:
- Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, and nonprofit tax returns
- Perform audit, review, and compilation procedures for governmental and nonprofit entities
- Prepare financial statements and related disclosures
- Maintain accurate and organized client records and workpapers
- Communicate with clients to gather financial data and resolve accounting inquiries
- Stay current with changes in tax law, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 1-3 years of public accounting or staff accountant experience preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax principles, and financial reporting
- CPA license or active pursuit of CPA certification is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and a client-focused, professional demeanor
