Building Brighter Futures is a strategic and data-driven plan shaped by more than a year of community engagement, information analysis, and thoughtful deliberation. The goal of this plan is to strengthen enrollment and ensure scholars attend a newer school building that offers more educational opportunities, including algebra in the eighth grade, more sports and extracurricular activities, and college credits and college and career pathways in high school. BBF is ensuring academic excellence so every CMSD scholar can thrive.THE OPPORTUNITY:THE OPPORTUNITYThe International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the effective administration of the IB Diploma Program (IBDP) and will work closely with school leadership in supporting students and teachers to maximize students’ attainment. Quality assurance of teaching and learning in the IB years, providing pedagogical leadership to the IBDP, and promoting the IB ethos will be critical elements of the role.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESBe responsible for all communications with the IB officesRecord all communication, forms, documents, and reports from the IBEnsure that appropriate student records are maintainedContribute to the promotion and development of the IBDP both within and outside the schoolAttend workshops and regional meetingsOrganize internal assessment and moderation of internal assessment, according to the Diploma criteriaSupport the Principal on curriculum developments within the IBDPCreate and maintain internal assessment calendarWork with counselor to ensure students are appropriately scheduled for DP coursework and eligible for the IB DiplomaExaminations:Ensure that students are registered for examinationsEnsure that students receiving assessment accommodations are appropriately registered with supporting documentation to receive accommodationsEnsure appropriate conduct of examinations (written and oral), including establishing examination schedule, training invigilators, and preparing exam materialsEnsure that all internal assessment materials are sent to respective examinersSend examination answer scripts to IB examiners on timeReport examination irregularitiesOrganize distribution of resultsWork with school leadership to analyze results and adjust program delivery as necessary, including submitting enquiry upon results on behalf of students as necessaryTeaching:Ensure that all teachers are suitably qualified and trained in accordance with IB requirementsConduct regular meetings with IB teachersProvide support and information to teachers new to the IB, especially in pedagogy and assessmentConduct quality assurance of the delivery of the IBDPOversee the five-year program evaluationEnsure that teachers have access to the most up-to-date publicationsEnsure that teachers have information on current Diploma Program developmentsCoordinate participation in Diploma workshops and professional learningInform all concerned about assessment procedures and deadlinesEnsure that all documents are completed on timePrepare timelines for submission of work to the IBRationalize timelines for students.Ensure the efficient administration of the CAS, extended essays and TOK programs.Students:Ensure that all students are clear about the requirements of the IB Diploma Program and are updated as changes ariseInform 9th and 10th grade students about the IB requirementsParticipate in recruitment activities to inform prospective students about the requirements of the Diploma ProgramAdvise students on subject selectionAccommodate transfer students and liaise with their former schoolsMonitor students’ progress and coordinate support for those experiencing difficultyDisplay empathy for 11th and 12th grade studentsParents:Provide comprehensive information to parents about the Diploma Program and the School’s milestones.Organize parent meetings to:Advise parents on the suitability of the IB Program for their child(ren)Inform parents about the requirements of the IBDPNotify parents about their child(ren)’s progressKeep parents apprised of their child(ren)’s progress in all subjects, the Extended Essay, and the CAS program.Extended Essay (EE) Support:Create EE timeline for studentsMaintain updated EE handbookProvide EE orientation to all DP students at the start of 11th gradeProvide EE information session to all 11th grade parentsWork with TOK teacher(s) to provide students support with the EE, including research workshopsTrain EE supervisorsTrack student progress and communicate difficulties with parentsEnsure all reflections and deadlines are met by students and supervisorsCollect and upload all EEs and reflectionsCreativity, Activity, Service (CAS) Support:Create CAS timeline for studentsMaintain updated CAS handbookProvide CAS orientation for all 11th grade studentsProvide CAS information session for all 11th grade parentsTrain students on the use of Managebac for maintaining CAS recordsSupport staff members and community members who work with students on CAS experiences and projectsMeet with each DP student at least three times for formal CAS reflectionsCollect and read all CAS journal entriesEnsure all criteria for CAS are met and submit completion forms to IBQUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)In-depth knowledge of and familiarity with IB standards and practicesExperience leading and managing staffExperience teaching in the IB programAbility to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, administration, students, families, and key contacts at
