Metrologist (Level 2)

Palmdale, CA 93599, United States – Full Time Compensation: $70,100 to $123,625 annually Job Overview Lockheed Martin Aeronautics – Be More Than You Can Imagine. Primary responsibilities: Develop, implement and maintain calibration processes; assist metrology technicians in solving problems related to equipment and processes involving measurement techniques, instrument operation, or instrument deficiency; analyze Metrology Operations performance metrics to improve laboratory production and efficiency in the calibration and repair of inspection, measuring, and test equipment; ensure traceability; develop accurate calibration methods and techniques based on measurement science principles; identify error sources contributing to uncertainty; develop and evaluate calibration systems covering length, mass, time, temperature, electric current, luminous intensity, and other derived units; provide SME expertise to calibration technicians and related programs requiring measurement support; direct all technical activities within the assigned Metrological disciplines and ensure conformance to requirements. Basic Qualifications Graduated from a formal Metrology training program or extensive OJT within a calibration laboratory. Demonstrated ability to interpret specifications, drawings, and schematics. Demonstrated understanding of measurement traceability. Proven knowledge of laboratory safety requirements, general laboratory quality requirements, and industry practices related to calibration and repair of test and measuring equipment. Experience in the use of computers, connectivity, Microsoft Office, instrumentation control utilizing automated calibration software. Desired Skills Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience using IndySoft Calibration Management software. Experience researching technical requirements and creating calibration procedures. Knowledge of industry quality requirements such as ISO 10012, ISO 17025, ANSI Z-540, and MIL-STD 45662A. Experience calibrating/troubleshooting physical/dimensional test equipment. Experience using standard measuring machine/super micrometer. Knowledge of backing up, updating, and maintaining test equipment firmware, on-board memory, and source files. Security Clearance This position requires a government security clearance. The candidate must be a U.S. citizen and hold a Secret clearance. Location Palmdale, CA – Onsite Full‑time. The work is performed at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
