Shipping Specialist Potter & Potter Auctions, established 2007, is a Chicago auction house specializing in the sale of art, antiques and collectibles of all types, including fine and outsider art, rare books, oddities, historical memorabilia, and magicana - antiques and collectibles focused on magic and magicians. Overview Potter & Potter Auctions is seeking an experienced Shipping Specialist to join its Operations Department. Reporting to the Shipping Manager, this position is primarily responsible for safely packing and shipping antiques, collectibles, artwork, and other property across the wide range of categories Potter & Potter sells. The Shipping Specialist also supports inventory and property management tasks related to pre- and post-auction operations. This is a full-time, hourly position. Candidates must be available to work occasional Saturday auctions. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated professional experience handling, packing, and shipping valuable collectibles, antiques, and art objects. Candidates should also be comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, and physically demanding environment. Duties Include Packing and shipping auction property, maintaining a clean and organized work area, unloading inbound shipments, organizing auction inventory, and assisting with property and inventory management duties as needed. Shipping Department Responsibilities Fulfill auction and retail orders according to Potter & Potter shipping standards and deadlines. Accurately pull and organize inventory for shipment based on auction invoices. Assist the Shipping Manager with processing shipping labels through FedEx and USPS. Assist with packing oversized items for freight and third-party shipments. Track shipping supplies and submit supply orders within the Shipping Department budget. Other Responsibilities Assist the Operations Team with organizing and logging auction inventory before sales to facilitate efficient post-auction fulfillment. Assist with unloading inbound shipments. Support the Operations Team with inventory management as needed. Organize inventory within warehouse storage and serve as a point of contact for moving property between departments. Occasionally assist with off-site work, including white-glove deliveries and packing consignments for transport or storage at Potter & Potter. Qualifications Demonstrated experience packing and shipping domestic and international shipments; familiarity with FedEx and USPS shipping software is a plus. Proven experience handling and packing fragile, valuable, and unique art, antiques, and collectibles. Professional art handlers are strongly encouraged to apply. Ability to lift 50+ pounds. Valid driver's license. Compensation Starting wage of $19 per hour, commensurate with experience. Benefits Health insurance with a 50% employer contribution.
